It’s Friday 13th and here she is… Drowning Girl Versace…

I would like to introduce you to the first in a large body of work titled, The Crying Girl Series; Drowning Girl Versace. Those of you who know your art history will immediately reference Lichtenstein’s Drowning Girl. I spent several hours thinking about adaptation from the original, so I opened up her tear stained eyes! The narrative changes from victim to frustration or anger, now we can see her gaze. I have had this idea in my head for years, and only now been able to translate onto paper for my illustration. The original waves, have been filled with snippets and teasers of Versace printed textiles, not the original colours, but a drug fuelled candy explosion, complete with Mrs Slocombe hair (a hair idol of mine). As for Brad, well she don’t care no more, as she rightfully says… drowning in Versace is the preferred way to go! And BOOM! Brad was gone! I have fallen in love with her. Swim Drowning Girl Versace, swim!!! Enjoy! X20140609_18380120140609_18391920140609_18390420140609_18384220140609_18382220140602_17365320140601_20074420140601_182804
