The second to last illustration is the final piece, with a cheeky close up to show the physicality of the work, and the final image. I was commissioned back in Spring by the lovely, Vicky Collins; the Tournament Director and owner of White Events, to design the front cover of this year’s, much anticipated tennis event, The Boodles Classique. It is a three day event, held at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Cheshire, and sponsered by several well established companies. Vicky wanted to change the classic appearance of the brochure cover, to something a little more quirky. We talked illustration over a couple of glasses/bottles of wine (mandatory with this project) and Vicky pretty much gave me a free reign. The proposal centred around these ideas; A Fashion orientated Illustration to represent the energy of the event, and the inclusion of four main sponsers; BMW, Moet & Chandon, The Mere Resort and of course the gorgeous Boodles Greenfire Collection. The Greenfire necklace became the central focus to my illustration, and I built the image around this gorgeous piece of jewelry. The entire time I was sketching out the image, the central female was an ice blonde, ala Tippi Hedren/Grace Kelly, but a last minute change of heart, and she became a Rita Hayworth! The emerald green just needed the orange to push out the details of this charming necklace. The illustration is very sketchy, dependent on the raw black lines, but yet retains its elegance, with an air of the heroine, ala film noir, and we all need a bit of Hitchcock in our lives… especially when on centre court...darling….    Enjoy Sx
