So let’s begin the New Year as I mean to go on, with posts about my artwork and illustration for all you lovely people to read about. So here is a recent piece i gave as a gift to Michael and his team at OPEN Magazine. Michael has been a brilliant omen to my year. He asked me to contribute my artistic magic to his Liverpool based magazine. A collaboration with three Liverpool based fashion designers and my illustrative interpretations, resulted in a wonderful showcase opportunity, which filled 6 pages of OPEN Magazine’s October/November Issue of last year. To say thank you, I wanted to give something back, and this came in the form of one of my customized ‘Drowning Girls’. With the help of my Secret Squirrel Insider; the loverly Lucy, we composed various information about each member of the OPEN Mag team, and translated it through pattern, print and colour saturation. It was a very organic illustration, and it developed by itself, no planning. But I can honestly say, that I LOVE IT!!!! So many clashing prints and complimentary colours standing side by side, I loved doing this piece and i really hope this is conveyed through the final piece. It now has been mounted and framed and hangs proudly upon the graphic striped wallpaper of Michael and his partner’s home. And it looks amazing, if I may say so. It was an absolute pleasure to do, and has given me so many ideas to push this series further. So if you fancy a customized Drowning Girl… let’s make it happen! Happy first day of January… S x
